Laid off from Amcor.
Amcor closed several plants soon after it took them over, including ones that came with the Bemis and Berry Global deals. After the 2025 Berry merger, executives said savings in corporate support would arrive first and plant restructurings or closures would take longer.

The most recent Amcor layoff we've found
Amcor's annual report filed in August 2026 counted $118 million in employee related expenses under its Berry Plan through June 30. Amcor Rigid Packaging's Fort Worth notice from May 2026 is the newest in our WARN tracker.
What Amcor layoffs have meant for employees
Amcor's US layoff record belongs to three companies at once. Of the 46 rows in our WARN tracker, 27 carry Berry-lineage names, 11 carry Amcor's and eight carry Bemis's, and at least 21 are marked as closures. The old names outlast the deals, too. The Lanett notice dated May 2, 2025 was filed as Berry Global, after Amcor had completed the merger on April 30. If your plant came to Amcor through Berry or Bemis, a lookup under Amcor alone will miss its earlier notices, so Berry Plastics, Pliant, Kerr Group, Curwood and Milprint are worth trying as well.
At three plants, a recent purchase didn't stop a closing. The factory in the Jefferson City News Tribune account was closing just over a year after Amcor acquired it, the label plant in Global Paper Money had come with Bemis, and the Lanett site in Packaging Dive had come with Berry. Both big mergers were followed by a restructuring plan with its own budget. Amcor's fiscal 2020 annual report expected about $90 million in employee related expenses for the Bemis plan, and its fiscal 2026 annual report shows Berry Plan projects under way by June 30, 2026 carrying $126 million on that same line. Those are worldwide accounting figures and they don't convert into a headcount, but the second plan is already the larger of the two by that measure.
The order of the savings is the most useful part of Amcor's own account. On the February 2026 earnings call, CEO Peter Konieczny said general and administrative savings hit first and procurement second, while anything on the network "takes a little more time because it typically has to do with plant restructurings or closures." The company also said savings from site closures and restructures would mainly arrive in years two and three of its synergy timeline. That's a statement about when savings land, and the plan itself is expected to run until June 30, 2028.
Alongside the merger plan, Amcor opened a portfolio review in August 2025. It put businesses with about $2.5 billion in sales under review, North American Beverage among them, and its latest annual report lists restructuring, partnerships, joint ventures and cash sales as possible results. It sold four of those businesses in fiscal 2026 and said in that report that it hadn't set a deadline for the rest.
About 37% of Amcor's workforce is covered by collective bargaining agreements. At June 30, 2026, about 2% of employees were working under expired contracts and about 19% were under agreements due to expire within a year. Those shares are worldwide. For continuing Berry employees covered by a labor agreement, the Berry merger agreement said that agreement would govern their terms until it expired or was changed.
A notice count can understate a closing. Jefferson City had about 120 people when the closure was announced and 71 on the October filing, because numerous people had already left. If you're sizing up a closing at your own site, the number on a notice may reflect only who remained when it was filed. The help on record at that plant was practical, with the local chamber's economic development director saying Amcor paid employees to attend career fairs and the company saying it relocated a few of them. If another Amcor site is offered to you, the distance is worth pricing in early. In the merger agreement, Amcor and Berry promised each other that a continuing Berry employee who resigned over an involuntary move of more than 50 miles would get plan severance, subject to that plan's rules. That covenant ran to April 30, 2026, and the agreement says it gave employees no right or remedy of their own.

What to do if you're laid off from Amcor
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. Amcor's biggest hubs: Texas, Alabama, California, Illinois. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what Amcor's hub states run: Texas, Alabama, California, Illinois, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
Amcor layoff and severance questions
Has Amcor laid off workers since the Berry merger?
Yes. Our WARN tracker shows notices for the former Berry site in Lanett, Alabama, and Amcor Rigid Packaging's site in Fort Worth, Texas, both dated after the deal closed on April 30, 2025. Separately, Amcor put its headcount reduction at over 600 on its February 2026 earnings call.
Is Amcor closing more plants in 2026?
The 2026 closing in our WARN tracker is Fort Worth, where layoffs were slated to begin July 2, and Packaging Dive relayed Plastics News's report of a plant closure. The February 2026 earnings call and Amcor's fiscal 2026 annual report don't name the sites behind its approximately 20 site closures or restructures.
What severance has Amcor given laid-off employees?
Amcor and Bemis SEC filings, the February 2026 earnings call and the trade and local reports we track state no severance formula or per-person amount for a plant closing. A written term does exist in the Berry merger agreement, which promised Berry employees who stayed on the severance in the applicable Berry plan if Amcor terminated them without cause in the year after the April 30, 2025 closing, subject to that plan's rules. The agreement also says it creates no right, benefit or remedy for employees.
How many WARN notices has Amcor filed?
The count stands at 46 rows in our WARN tracker from 1994 through May 2026, or 44 notices, because one California closing sits on three rows. That total covers Amcor, Berry, Bemis and predecessor names, and two of the notices are dated since the start of 2025. Our archive lacks some states and years, so Jefferson City's 2017 notice and Des Moines's 2024 notices aren't in that count.
