Laid off from Beachbody.
Beachbody, the company behind BODi, has put a California layoff notice on file every year since 2022. The 2024 staff cut was tied to ending the coach network that drove most of its sales, a group its filings liken to a gig workforce and describe apart from its employees.

The most recent Beachbody layoff we've found
October 2026 brought the newest event on record, a permanent layoff notice in El Segundo on California's WARN report and Beachbody's first California notice since June 2025.
What Beachbody layoffs have meant for employees
On a list of notices, Beachbody's cuts look alike, and that's misleading. The January 2022 and June 2025 notices carry the same job count, yet the company put its first-quarter 2022 reduction at approximately 10% of headcount and the June 2025 one at about 22%. If you're comparing your round with an earlier one, the share tells you more than the count. The stated reasons moved with the business too, from digital subscriptions in 2017 and 2018 to a single platform in 2022 and the end of the coach network in 2024. Full-time staff fell by about 74% from the end of 2021 to the end of 2025, a net figure that also reflects resignations and hiring. Added up, the seven California notices in our WARN tracker list 751 jobs, which isn't a count of everyone who left.
Three numbers get quoted for 2024. An early figure of about 195 employees came from the Los Angeles Business Journal a week after the announcement, before the state had disclosed a notice. California's notice, dated the day after the announcement, listed 160. Beachbody's 2025 10-K, written after the cuts, says about 170, or 33% of the workforce on that date, and that's the company's own count. The September 2024 release named the network marketing support functions as the work being eliminated, as the business centered on one eCommerce platform, and called the multi-level marketing model "outdated and unsustainable." If your work supported coaches, that release is the company's plainest statement of why the work ended, and it's a ready answer if an interviewer asks why your job ended.
The filings describe coaches in different terms from employees. Hundreds of thousands of Coaches and Preferred Customers made up the Team Beachbody marketplace in the 2021 10-K, and by the 2025 10-K the same sellers were Partners, whose network had driven the majority of revenues and whom the filing calls BODi's "equivalent of a gig workforce." They earned a share of revenue plus bonuses for building teams, and the single-level affiliate model replaced that plan, pitched as pay without managing or recruiting a team. If you coached, your own commission history shows what the change did to your income, since these filings deal in company totals.
Not every exit shows up on a notice. A 2024 10-Q note counts about 25 terminated employees with modified stock awards in the third quarter of 2023 and about 40 in the first quarter of 2024, and neither quarter has a California notice on file. So if you left in a quieter stretch and can't find your date on a list, that doesn't mean your job wasn't cut.
The terms on record differ by round, so one round doesn't tell you the next. If Beachbody puts a package in front of you, earlier terms are something you can bring up when negotiating severance, and the filings tie each one to its own round.
Addresses and dates on these notices deserve the same care. All seven notices are California's, but the 2025 10-K calls Beachbody a remote-first workplace whose team members primarily work remotely, and it lists the El Segundo headquarters at approximately 300 square feet on a one-year lease expiring December 2026. So an address shows where a notice points, which may not be where those jobs were done. The five notices since 2022 each set an effective date 60 to 62 days out, which is a date for the notice and doesn't tell anyone their own last day. If Beachbody sent you anything individual, the address and date in it sit closer to your own situation than the state's list does.

What to do if you're laid off from Beachbody
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. Beachbody's biggest hubs: California. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what Beachbody's hub states run: California, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
Beachbody layoff and severance questions
What severance has Beachbody given laid-off employees?
Filings give company totals. For the 2024 cut, Beachbody expected about $6 million to $8 million in net cash charges, relating primarily to employee severance under a one-time severance program, its September 2024 8-K said, and its 2025 10-K later recorded $5.1 million in termination benefits and $1.1 million in retention benefits. A 2023 10-K note put restructuring costs, primarily termination benefits, at $10.0 million in 2022 and $6.5 million in 2023. These filings give no weeks of pay or per-person amount.
What happens to my stock if I'm laid off from Beachbody?
It has depended on the round. Beachbody accelerated vesting of options that would have vested within six months of termination for the 2024 cut and within three months for its other 2023 and 2024 restructurings, a third-quarter 2024 10-Q note says. For the 2024 cut, vested options could also be exercised for six months after termination, three more than the standard three in the original agreements. Those changes covered certain awards of terminated employees, so they aren't a rule for a later round.
What happened to Beachbody coaches when the MLM ended?
They could move to a single-level affiliate program that opened November 1, 2024, and the old model ended that December, the 2025 10-K says. A class action filed in May 2023 had alleged Beachbody misclassified these sellers, by then called Partners, as contractors rather than employees, and a settlement as of October 7, 2025 led to dismissal of all claims, including 28 arbitrations.
Did Beachbody have layoffs in 2026?
Yes, on California's record. The state's WARN report holds an October 6, 2026 filing from Beachbody, LLC, typed as a permanent layoff, and it's the only Beachbody notice from 2026 in our WARN tracker.
