The most recent FormFactor layoff we've found
Restructuring charges came to $30.7 million over the nine months ended September 26, 2026, FormFactor's quarterly report through September shows. In that stretch its accrual for employee severance and benefits took $9.5 million in charges and $5.0 million in cash payments, leaving $4.9 million.
What FormFactor layoffs have meant for employees
FormFactor tied its 2026 plans to its cost structure and gross margin, and to manufacturing capabilities matched to current and anticipated business needs, in a January 2026 8-K. The Carlsbad and Baldwin Park plants were being consolidated to other manufacturing facilities, according to its third-quarter filing, though neither document names those sites, and the charges related mainly to the company's Probe Cards segment. On the people side, the 8-K counted costs to sever or retain employees, and its charge estimate put severance and retention in one line. In the 10-Q's estimate, employee severance and benefits come to $10.0 million to $12.5 million of $32.0 million to $40.0 million in all. So if you worked at either plant, the plan's own numbers allowed for keeping some people on as well as letting others go, and a retention payment, where one was offered, was counted in the same restructuring estimate as severance.
The state's WARN report puts the two plants' effective dates 322 days apart, though both notices went in the same day. The consolidation was staggered, with Baldwin Park's date first and Carlsbad's close to the end of December 2026, when the 8-K expected the plan's actions to be largely completed. The 8-K also said facilities charges could run past that point, so costs for the buildings weren't expected to end with the last effective date.
Two employers filed notices at FormFactor's Livermore headquarters in October 2022. FormFactor adopted its 2022 plans on October 25 and expected the work to wrap up, for the most part, before its fiscal fourth quarter was out, according to its October 2022 8-K. Demand in its probe card business had fallen, by the company's account, a different reason from the cost and manufacturing aims it gave in 2026. Its own notice for permanent layoffs carries that October date in EDD's report for that year. The second notice came from Roth Staffing Companies, doing business as Ultimate Staffing Services at FormFactor, filed under its own name at the same Southfront Road address, and it listed its effective date as the day it was dated. Anyone searching the state's report by that address finds both filings. If a staffing firm placed you at FormFactor, the 2022 notices show that firm, not FormFactor, filing the notice for the people it placed there.
The state's report gives each FormFactor notice one line, with its notice, received and effective dates, the county, the count, the type and the address. If you're after the job titles or the separation details behind one of those notices, EDD accepts public records requests for copies of the notices themselves through its GovQA site, in the category set aside for WARN notices, according to its WARN page.
Help after a notice comes through local workforce offices. The local workforce area contacts the employer to arrange Rapid Response services once a notice is processed, EDD's page says, and those teams help affected workers with job searching, training and questions about unemployment insurance. Local workforce boards and America's Job Center of California offices offer help with resumes, interviews and training programs, and a counselor at a local AJCC is free to meet with. CalFresh helps eligible families buy groceries with monthly benefits on an EBT card, EDD notes. If your job loss is tied to foreign competition or a relocation, EDD says more help may be available through Trade Adjustment Assistance. An unemployment claim in the state is the subject of unemployment in California.

FormFactor layoff and severance questions
What severance has FormFactor given laid-off employees?
FormFactor's filings state severance only as company-wide sums, without a formula for what each person gets. For the 2026 plant consolidation, the January 2026 8-K grouped severance with retention, while the 10-Q for the September quarter estimated employee severance and benefits at $10 million to $12.5 million and showed $9.5 million charged through September 26, 2026. In 2022, FormFactor's 8-K that October expected about $6.6 million in cash for severance and employee-related costs.
Is FormFactor closing its Carlsbad and Baldwin Park plants?
FormFactor said in its January 2026 8-K that it was consolidating both manufacturing facilities, and its quarterly report for September describes that consolidation as one to other manufacturing facilities. The state's WARN report carries a closure notice for each, Baldwin Park's for 113 jobs with a January 30, 2026 effective date and Carlsbad's for 107 with December 18, 2026.
Why did FormFactor lay off workers in 2022?
FormFactor adopted restructuring plans on October 25, 2022 to align its costs with reduced demand in its Probe Cards segment, including lowering headcount by about 13% of its workforce, according to an 8-K filed that October. California's WARN report dates FormFactor's own notice for 52 permanent layoffs at its Livermore headquarters that day, and a staffing firm, Roth Staffing Companies, filed a separate notice of its own covering 164 workers at the same address.
