Laid off from GDIT.
GDIT's layoffs move contract by contract, a Falls Church office tied to a recompete, an F-35 program office extension, a Doral site of 151. Fourteen filings since 2025 in our tracker, and GDIT says most notices it issued in the prior year didn't end in a separation.

GDIT layoff history
A GDIT notice arrives with a date on it, and on two of the filings here that date belonged to a contract still being decided. Most of the rest name no contract and no reason at all. The company staffs people onto federal programs, and its parent told investors that the administration's 2025 steps to address federal spending and reduce the size of government produced federal staff reductions, contract modifications and terminations, and award delays, and that the impact General Dynamics felt was largely limited to its IT services business, which is GDIT. Our tracker holds 14 filings covering 1,152 jobs since the start of 2025 across six states, and 42 GDIT filings all time.
June 2026 shows the documented version of that, because GDIT wrote the condition into two of the notices itself. It told Virginia it might lay off 133 employees at 3170 Fairview Park Drive in Falls Church on July 28 without an award or extension on a contract in the recompete process, and 103 at 1401 S. Clark St. in Arlington on July 31 without an extension on its F-35 Joint Program Office contract, the IT support work General Dynamics One Source won in 2019 with a $155.6 million ceiling. A GDIT employee wrote "We are hopeful for an extension" into the Arlington filing. A spokesperson said the company issues WARN notifications "to ensure full compliance with the WARN Act" and acts "with an abundance of caution whenever there is any uncertainty around funding," and that across the previous year's notices, most didn't conclude in a layoff separation, crediting late funding and internal moves the company puts at over 4,000 employees a year.
That condition doesn't travel across the record. Maryland's 2026 log carries four GDIT notices, 21 jobs at 4600 Sangamore Road in Bethesda, 74 at 5601 Fishers Lane in Rockville, 34 at 6555 Rock Spring Drive in Bethesda and 32 at 19901 Germantown Road in Germantown, and the state typed all four Mass Layoff - No Recall. Not one names a contract or gives a reason. Neither does the year's biggest filing, the 174 Pentagon jobs noticed in June for separation beginning August 8 or within 14 days after, which GDIT's transition team filed without stating a cause. When 87 District employees were noticed in April, a spokesman declined to comment and no contract was identified behind that one either.
The 2025 rounds landed elsewhere. Louisiana's log records 77 jobs at 2251 Lakeshore Drive in New Orleans noticed in March for a May layoff date, and another 103 that November with no address given. Florida holds the year's largest at 151 in Doral in August, an Arizona filing in March listed 110, and 54 Rockville employees were noticed in December. Alongside that, the parent's numbers describe a business that kept growing. Its annual report puts IT services revenue at $9.06 billion in 2025, against $8.76 billion in 2024 and $8.46 billion in 2023, and on the July 29, 2026 earnings call Technologies revenue came in at $3.6 billion, up 4.1%, with growth led by Mission Systems rather than GDIT.
Your own notice settles more than the coverage does. The federal rules make it say whether the layoff is permanent or temporary of six months or less, with the layoff date and your separation date, so that permanent-or-temporary line is the one to find on your own paperwork. Mass Layoff - No Recall is how Maryland classified its four rows in the state log, which is a separate document from the notice you were handed. The same rules let an employer name a date and separate you within a 14-day period after it, while still owing 60 days of written notice counted from that window's first day. No severance terms are on record for these rounds, which puts whatever applies to you inside your own agreement. If your work is cleared, 32 CFR 117.10 governs what comes next, letting a contractor return you to classified work after a break only while you stay eligible with a current investigation. Our WARN tracker holds all 42 GDIT filings behind these numbers.

How GDIT's layoffs compare to other companies
Two of GDIT's three June 2026 Virginia notices say in their own text that the layoffs happen only if a contract isn't awarded or extended, and GDIT says most notices it issued in the prior year didn't end in a separation. The third, covering 174 Pentagon jobs, gives no reason, and Maryland's four 2026 rows carry no condition either.
What to do after being laid off from GDIT
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. GDIT's biggest hubs: Virginia, Maryland, Florida. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what GDIT's hub states run: Virginia, Maryland, Florida, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
GDIT layoff and severance questions
What severance does GDIT pay in layoffs?
No terms on record, and none in our tracker. Nothing in the state logs or the reporting we track puts a figure on a GDIT package, so whatever applies to you sits in the separation agreement you're offered. Read the payment terms, the release language and the signing deadline before signing. If a contract ended your role, ask the company taking over the work whether it plans to keep incumbent staff.
My GDIT WARN notice says the layoff depends on a contract. What does that mean?
It means the notice was filed against a contract date while the award was still open. Two of GDIT's three June 2026 Virginia notices were written that way, one turning on an award or extension in a recompete, the other on an extension of the F-35 Joint Program Office contract, and a GDIT employee wrote "We are hopeful for an extension" into the Arlington filing. The third, covering 174 Pentagon jobs, gives no reason at all. GDIT says most notices it issued in the year before June 2026 didn't conclude in a separation, which is the company's account of its own filings, and Maryland's four 2026 notices carry no condition.
What happens to my security clearance after a GDIT layoff?
Eligibility is the government's call rather than your employer's. Under 32 CFR 117.10, the cognizant security agency decides whether a contractor employee is eligible for access to classified information, and the contractor must show the access is essential to a classified contract. After a break in employment, a contractor can return you to classified work only while you remain eligible with a current investigation of the right scope. Once a break has cost you eligibility, the government has to make a new determination first. The regulation sets no month count, so ask a facility security officer where yours stands.
My GDIT notice gives a date and says separation could come within 14 days after it. Why?
Because the federal rules allow it. The Department of Labor's worker guide says an employer has some leeway predicting separation dates and may give notice that you'll be separated within a two-week, or 14-day, period after a certain date, and that an employer using that window still owes notice 60 days before its first day. GDIT's June 2026 Pentagon notice used that construction for 174 jobs, naming August 8, 2026 or within 14 days after. Count your 60 days from the start of the window.
How many GDIT layoffs are on record in 2026?
Eight filings covering 657 jobs across three states, as our tracker counts them. Four are Maryland notices between March and July, one is the 87-job District filing in April, and three are Northern Virginia notices in June. Those are notices rather than confirmed separations, and nothing in the reporting we track establishes how many people actually left.
Where do I file for unemployment after being laid off from GDIT?
In the state where you worked, not where the company is headquartered. GDIT's biggest U.S. hubs are Virginia, Maryland, Florida. Severance usually doesn't block you from filing, and benefits run from your filing date, so file the same week.
Is it OK to file for unemployment after a layoff at GDIT?
Yes. Unemployment insurance is funded by payroll taxes employers pay on wages, the claim never appears on credit reports or background checks, and future employers cannot see it. If the hesitation itself is the obstacle, whether filing is OK has its own article.
What happens to my health insurance after a layoff at GDIT?
Your plan sets the end date rather than the law, so the separation packet is where that date actually lives, and it is often the last day of the month rather than your last day of work. After coverage ends, COBRA lets you keep the identical plan by paying the whole premium yourself, up to 102 percent of what the plan really costs, which lands as several times the payroll deduction you were used to. You get 60 days to elect, counted from the later of coverage ending or the election notice arriving, and electing reaches the coverage back to the day the old plan stopped so no gap exists. How continuation coverage works walks the timing, and whether to take it rather than a marketplace plan is a separate decision.
Should I sign the severance agreement right away?
First pin down how much review time you actually have. If you're 40 or older, federal law gives you 21 days to consider an agreement that waives age claims, 45 in a group layoff, and a waiver signed under a shorter deadline can be invalid. If you're under 40, no federal window applies and the deadline in your packet may be real, so confirm it in writing and ask for more time if you need it. Use whatever window you have to read the release terms, especially non-disparagement and no-lawsuit clauses, and don't stall past a real deadline, because offers can be withdrawn.
Can I collect unemployment if I got severance from GDIT?
Usually yes, though some states delay benefits until severance pay periods end, and lump sums are treated differently than salary continuation. Check your state's rules on our state benefit pages, and file immediately either way so your claim date is locked in.
