Laid off from HelloFresh.

Closing after closing since 2022, HelloFresh has offered the people who qualified a job at another of its buildings, sometimes several states away. That has left workers weighing a move against whatever help comes with leaving.

The most recent HelloFresh layoff we've found

HelloFresh's notice to New Jersey, which the Courier-Post described on August 19, 2026, called the Swedesboro shutdown a "transfer of operations" within a cost-cutting program, and workers there were being offered similar jobs at HelloFresh sites in Newark, Colorado and Arizona.

What HelloFresh layoffs have meant for employees

Again and again in HelloFresh's U.S. record, a site closes and its work goes to a busier or more automated one. Announcing the Newnan closing, the company said it needed to take advantage of facilities where it had invested in the latest technology and automation, after pandemic demand faded and left it with spare U.S. capacity, as Grocery Dive reported. In Texas, Grand Prairie's work was being folded into Irving, which a spokesperson described to Grocery Dive as HelloFresh's most technologically advanced fulfillment center. Totowa, a New Jersey hub opened in 2021, closed in late 2023 and sent its volume to Newark, Phoenix and Irving, a spokesperson told NJBIZ. HelloFresh's average U.S. workforce shrank by about 23% from 2024 to 2025, by the count in its annual report. Losing a job because the work moved rather than stopped stings in its own way.

A chance to transfer can be hard to take. One Richmond driver's account to Richmond Confidential in 2022 was that following the work to HelloFresh sites in Phoenix or Los Angeles was out of the question, with his family and his children's schools in Richmond, and the paper reported relocation wasn't an option for many others. If a transfer is offered to you, it's worth asking which building and shift it means, what it pays and whether moving help comes with it. Where a package comes with the same notice, you can also ask whether turning the move down changes it.

The conditions decide a lot. HelloFresh's 2026 Swedesboro statement, which The Philadelphia Inquirer carried, tied its help to eligible employees; the transfer offers at Newnan, in a letter the Newnan Times-Herald quoted, and at Richmond were for employees in good standing; and Richmond's pay through mid-December was offered to those who finished their jobs. So the definitions of eligible and good standing can shape what someone leaves with, and if a stay-until-the-end condition comes with your notice, it's worth asking what happens to that pay if another job starts first. Swedesboro's dates differ as well, with the statement setting the closing for September 30 and New Jersey's 2026 WARN list giving November 17 as the effective date. If you worked there and your paperwork offers continued pay or the extended healthcare support HelloFresh described, it's worth asking whether September 30, November 17 or another date sets how long it lasts.

Not everyone working in a HelloFresh building is on its payroll. By March 2025 HelloFresh had ended its relationship with the staffing agency Manpower, which cost jobs at its Irving, Texas facility, according to Dallas reporting that Grocery Dive's Texas story relayed. In Arizona a January notice counted 564 workers, and Manpower's people there were to be offered reassignment at Factor, the ready-to-eat company HelloFresh bought in 2020, with their employment to move to Adecco or Randstad. That notice sits in our WARN tracker under ManpowerGroup US Inc., and at the Factor plant in Burr Ridge, Randstad Inhouse Services filed its own notice for 34 workers in 2026. If an agency placed you at a HelloFresh or Factor site, the notice covering you may carry the agency's name, so it's worth searching under that name as well as under Grocery Delivery E-Services USA, the name on HelloFresh's own filings.

HelloFresh's own accounts show the footprint shrinking too. In 2025 it ended leases early at several U.S. fulfillment centers, the same annual report records, and it counted about 80% of its efficiency program's projects in place by that year's end. If you're filing for unemployment after a closing in New Jersey, Illinois or Texas, there's more on New Jersey unemployment benefits, Illinois unemployment benefits and Texas unemployment benefits.

What to do if you're laid off from HelloFresh

HelloFresh layoff and severance questions

What severance has HelloFresh given laid-off employees?

HelloFresh said it would support eligible Swedesboro staff with severance assistance and extended healthcare support, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Factor described outplacement and financial help for its Burr Ridge workers to Patch, and HelloFresh told Grocery Dive of financial support for eligible Grand Prairie workers in 2025, but none of those statements puts an amount or formula on it. If HelloFresh puts a package in front of you, the questions worth raising are how the amount was figured and, if healthcare support comes with it, how long that runs.

How many WARN notices has HelloFresh filed?

Our WARN tracker holds five HelloFresh filings, each under a version of the name Grocery Delivery E-Services USA, from a 2022 California filing to Swedesboro, New Jersey, in 2026, the largest for 727 jobs at Newnan, Georgia. Of those, 3 filings covering 901 jobs since the start of 2025 came in Texas, Illinois and New Jersey.

Why is HelloFresh closing distribution centers?

HelloFresh said in its 2026 New Jersey notice, as the Courier-Post read it, that it was concentrating production in high-volume sites, with its facility footprint exceeding business needs, and in 2025 it told Grocery Dive it was optimizing that footprint as the meal kit market normalizes. Chief executive Dominik Richter told Reuters, in a report ESM Magazine carried, that the company's cost-cutting program would include some job cuts tied to closing fulfillment centers.

Is HelloFresh laying off workers in 2026?

Yes. Our WARN tracker holds 2 HelloFresh filings for 2026 covering 628 jobs, a May notice for Burr Ridge, Illinois, and a Swedesboro, New Jersey notice that New Jersey's 2026 WARN list shows posted in August.
