Honeywell layoff history
Since the split, two public companies carry the Honeywell name, Honeywell Technologies and Honeywell Aerospace. Honeywell spun off Solstice Advanced Materials on October 30, 2025 and Honeywell Aerospace on June 29, 2026, and what stayed behind, Honeywell Technologies, sold its Intelligrated warehouse business to American Industrial Partners in July and its Productivity Solutions and Services business to Brady in August. That's a lot of corporate reshuffling to follow while you're also sorting out a paycheck and health coverage. Before you ask anyone about severance or benefits, check which employer your separation papers actually name, then start with that company's HR and plan documents.
Chandler shows how the split and the cuts overlap. Arizona's register lists a Honeywell notice dated May 27, 2026 for 60 employees at 6505 W Chandler Blvd. Honeywell told the Phoenix Business Journal the cut came from Honeywell Aerospace's Advanced Cryogenic Platforms business after the contract work behind those roles concluded and was restructured, and that the people it let go were eligible to apply for other jobs at the company. A month later that business sat inside a separate public company, Honeywell Aerospace. It wasn't the address's first notice either; Arizona lists a 40-employee Honeywell notice there from May 13, 2022.
Honeywell's securities filings carry the company-wide numbers. Its 2025 10-K counts workforce reductions of 5,854 manufacturing and administrative positions in 2023, 3,486 in 2024 and 3,425 in 2025, with $138 million in severance costs that year. For 2025 it ties the reductions to productivity and ongoing functional transformation initiatives. In 2025 it also returned $57 million of reserves set aside mostly for severance, pointing to more voluntary exits than it expected and changes in the scope of earlier actions. The first half of 2026 added 949 positions, mostly in Process Automation and Technology and the corporate function. The notes name segments, not sites, so they can't tell you whether your office or plant was part of a count.
The clearest site-level terms on record come from Ohio. Honeywell announced the permanent closure of its Intelligrated facility in West Chester in April 2023, where about 223 were laid off, and in August 2023 the closure of a Fairfield site with 66 jobs, and promised severance and outplacement assistance there without giving a reason for either closure. At the London, Ohio Intelligrated plant, where an April 2024 notice covered 98 jobs and Honeywell planned to close by May 2025, workers without union representation were to be offered severance and outplacement benefits, and some were represented by the Iron Workers union. No amounts or formula are on record for any of those three, so the figure printed in your separation papers is the one to check.
Our WARN filing tracker holds 47 filings under Honeywell names, all-time, and the ones since the start of 2025 cover 60 jobs, all in Arizona. Under federal WARN, a covered employer owes its workers 60 days' written warning ahead of a mass layoff or plant closing, and anyone shorted on that notice may be able to recover back pay and benefits covering as many as 60 days, scaled to the notice actually given. The law reaches employers of at least 100 full-time workers and applies when a single site sheds enough jobs to cross its thresholds. If Honeywell offered you another job before the layoff, keep the written offer, because under those rules a transfer doesn't count as losing your job, even if you turn it down, when the offer came before the layoff, resulted from a consolidation or transfer of the business, and was for a job within reasonable commuting distance. An invitation to apply for openings, which is how Honeywell described Chandler, may not be the same thing. If you worked in Arizona, our Arizona unemployment benefits page covers filing a claim there.

What to do after being laid off from Honeywell
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. Honeywell's biggest hubs: Arizona, Ohio. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what Honeywell's hub states run: Arizona, Ohio, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
Honeywell layoff and severance questions
How many people has Honeywell laid off in 2026?
Honeywell's filings count positions rather than people. Its quarterly report put workforce reductions at 949 manufacturing and administrative positions between January and June 2026, and a notice Arizona lists for May 27 covered 60 employees at Chandler. Since the start of 2025, Honeywell filings in our tracker cover 60 jobs, all in Arizona.
Is Honeywell Aerospace a separate company from Honeywell?
Yes, since June 29, 2026. Honeywell completed the spin-off that day; Honeywell Aerospace trades as HONA, and the remaining company, Honeywell Technologies, kept HON. The former Advanced Materials business left earlier, as Solstice Advanced Materials, on October 30, 2025.
Why did Honeywell cut jobs in Chandler, Arizona?
Honeywell said Honeywell Aerospace reviewed the staffing and facilities footprint of its Advanced Cryogenic Platforms business and made a targeted workforce reduction once the contract work behind those roles concluded and was restructured. It confirmed the 60 layoffs on June 1, about four weeks before Honeywell Aerospace became its own company.
Does Honeywell give severance to laid-off employees?
It has offered severance at specific closures on record. For the 2023 West Chester and Fairfield closures Honeywell promised the affected employees severance and outplacement assistance, and at London, Ohio in 2024 employees without union representation were to be offered severance and outplacement benefits. No formula or amounts are on record. Company-wide, Honeywell booked $138 million in severance costs in 2025. Read your separation papers against any plan they cite before signing anything, and if the offer looks thin, our walkthrough on pushing back on a severance offer is written for that moment.
Who owns Honeywell Intelligrated?
American Industrial Partners, since Honeywell Technologies completed the sale of its Warehouse and Workflow Solutions business, which operates as Intelligrated and Transnorm, on July 27, 2026. Before the sale, Honeywell announced the permanent closure of the Intelligrated facility in West Chester, Ohio in April 2023, and in April 2024 gave notice of 98 layoffs at the London, Ohio Intelligrated plant, which it planned to close by May 2025.
Where do I file for unemployment after being laid off from Honeywell?
In the state where you worked, not where the company is headquartered. Honeywell's biggest U.S. hubs are Arizona, Ohio. Severance usually doesn't block you from filing, and benefits run from your filing date, so file the same week.
Is it OK to file for unemployment after a layoff at Honeywell?
Yes. Unemployment insurance is funded by payroll taxes employers pay on wages, the claim never appears on credit reports or background checks, and future employers cannot see it. If the hesitation itself is the obstacle, whether filing is OK has its own article.
What happens to my health insurance after a layoff at Honeywell?
Your plan sets the end date rather than the law, so the separation packet is where that date actually lives, and it is often the last day of the month rather than your last day of work. After coverage ends, COBRA lets you keep the identical plan by paying the whole premium yourself, up to 102 percent of what the plan really costs, which lands as several times the payroll deduction you were used to. You get 60 days to elect, counted from the later of coverage ending or the election notice arriving, and electing reaches the coverage back to the day the old plan stopped so no gap exists. How continuation coverage works walks the timing, and whether to take it rather than a marketplace plan is a separate decision.
Should I sign the severance agreement right away?
First pin down how much review time you actually have. If you're 40 or older, federal law gives you 21 days to consider an agreement that waives age claims, 45 in a group layoff, and a waiver signed under a shorter deadline can be invalid. If you're under 40, no federal window applies and the deadline in your packet may be real, so confirm it in writing and ask for more time if you need it. Use whatever window you have to read the release terms, especially non-disparagement and no-lawsuit clauses, and don't stall past a real deadline, because offers can be withdrawn.
Can I collect unemployment if I got severance from Honeywell?
Usually yes, though some states delay benefits until severance pay periods end, and lump sums are treated differently than salary continuation. Check your state's rules on our state benefit pages, and file immediately either way so your claim date is locked in.
