Insperity layoff history
Insperity put its own job cuts in writing on February 10, 2026. An 8-K filed that day announced what the company calls the Realignment Plan, an internal reorganization expected to eliminate approximately 4% of its non-sales positions, and said it expected to continue disciplined hiring in sales and other key positions. It estimated about $9 million in one-time charges, mostly cash for severance and benefits, and put substantial completion before the end of the first quarter. The first-quarter results released April 30 booked $9 million of restructuring charges primarily related to severance for a workforce realignment. None of it names the people, teams or sites affected, or how individual roles were chosen, which is a rough thing to be left guessing about.
The earnings call that went with the filing set the plan beside a hard 2025. Executives pointed to stalled employment among small and mid-sized businesses and a broad rise in healthcare claim costs, and full-year adjusted EBITDA fell 51% to $131 million. CFO Jim Allison said the realignment was expected to reduce 2026 operating expenses by $20 million, excluding the $9 million charge. Insperity had also sped up a consolidation of sales offices in 2025's final quarter, which added $2.8 million of expense.
The company was already smaller before the plan. StockAnalysis, which compiles year-end head counts, puts Insperity at 4,200 employees for 2025, 300 fewer than the 4,500 of a year before. When Insperity reported second-quarter results on July 29, 2026, operating expenses were down 8% to $211 million, and MarketBeat's summary of the call put that mainly on lower headcount-related costs and stock compensation. On the same call CEO Paul Sarvadi said the fall selling season would bring additional business performance advisors.
In 2026's second quarter, Insperity paid an average of 305,764 worksite employees a month, against about 4,200 on its own staff at the end of 2025. Those worksite employees work at client businesses under what its 2025 10-K describes as co-employment, with Insperity an employer "for most administrative and regulatory purposes." The filing says a Client Service Agreement divides the employer's responsibilities between Insperity and each client, and that Insperity holds the right to terminate those employees but typically exercises it only in consultation with its clients or when compliance requires it. In February, Sarvadi said net employment change among clients, from hiring and layoffs, was the main reason 2025 ended with several thousand fewer paid worksite employees than Insperity had expected. If your job ended at a client business, ask both that business and Insperity which of them handles the explanation and any severance offer. The duties the 10-K lists as Insperity's are wages and salaries, payroll taxes, benefit programs and workers' compensation coverage.
Our tracker holds 0 filings covering 0 jobs since the start of 2025. Nothing under Insperity or its former name, Administaff, turns up in any earlier year either. The federal WARN Act, which reaches employers of 100 or more, requires at least 60 calendar days' advance written warning when a plant closing or mass layoff hits 50 or more employees at one site of employment, and some states keep plant closure laws of their own. The 8-K gave a company-wide percentage and no site counts, so the record doesn't show whether any location, the Kingwood, Texas headquarters included, reached that line.
A release that trades away federal age-discrimination claims has a statutory floor under 29 U.S.C. 626(f). It must be written so the person signing can understand it, offer consideration beyond anything the person is already entitled to, and tell you in writing to talk to a lawyer. The review window runs at least 21 days, stretching to 45 when the offer comes through a program aimed at a group, and a signed release stays revocable for at least 7 days. Group programs carry one more duty, a written disclosure of the job title and age of each eligible or selected employee, plus the ages of coworkers in that job classification or unit who weren't. Whatever the company-wide charge suggests, the paper you sign decides your terms. For unemployment in Texas, TWC says to apply once you're out of work but not before your last workday, and a claim starts on the Sunday of the week you apply. Anyone who worked in another state files there. COBRA generally lets you keep group health coverage for a limited time, though you may have to pay up to 102% of the plan's cost.

What to do after being laid off from Insperity
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. Insperity's biggest hubs: Texas. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what Insperity's hub states run: Texas, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.

Insperity layoff and severance questions
Did Insperity have layoffs in 2026?
Yes. Insperity's 8-K of February 10, 2026 announced the Realignment Plan, expected to eliminate approximately 4% of its non-sales positions, and said disciplined hiring in sales and other key positions would continue. Its first-quarter results booked $9 million of restructuring charges primarily related to severance for the realignment. No other 2026 round appears in the reporting we track.
How many employees did Insperity lay off?
Insperity gave a percentage and no head count. The 8-K put the cut at approximately 4% of non-sales positions without naming sites or teams. StockAnalysis puts Insperity's year-end 2025 head count at 4,200, and nothing on record says how many of them held non-sales roles, so a head count for the 4% would be a guess.
Did Insperity pay severance in the 2026 layoffs?
The filings describe severance only in total. The 8-K estimated about $9 million in one-time charges, primarily severance pay and benefits, and the first-quarter release booked $9 million. Neither states a per-person formula. If the release you're offered gives up federal age-discrimination claims, 29 U.S.C. 626(f) sets minimum review and revocation periods before it counts.
If my employer uses Insperity, did Insperity lay me off?
The Realignment Plan covered Insperity's own non-sales positions. For worksite employees at client businesses, Insperity's 2025 10-K says it becomes an employer for most administrative and regulatory purposes and typically uses its right to terminate only in consultation with the client or when compliance requires it. Ask both the business you worked at and Insperity which of them handles the explanation and any severance. The 10-K lists Insperity's own duties as wages and salaries, payroll taxes, benefit programs and workers' compensation coverage.
Does Insperity file WARN notices?
Our tracker holds none, under Insperity or its former name Administaff, in any year. The federal law behind those notices applies at 100 or more employees and turns on 50 or more employees affected at one site, and the 8-K gave a company-wide percentage with no site counts.
Where do I file for unemployment after being laid off from Insperity?
In the state where you worked, not where the company is headquartered. Insperity's biggest U.S. hubs are Texas. Severance usually doesn't block you from filing, and benefits run from your filing date, so file the same week.
Is it OK to file for unemployment after a layoff at Insperity?
Yes. Unemployment insurance is funded by payroll taxes employers pay on wages, the claim never appears on credit reports or background checks, and future employers cannot see it. If the hesitation itself is the obstacle, whether filing is OK has its own article.
What happens to my health insurance after a layoff at Insperity?
Your plan sets the end date rather than the law, so the separation packet is where that date actually lives, and it is often the last day of the month rather than your last day of work. After coverage ends, COBRA lets you keep the identical plan by paying the whole premium yourself, up to 102 percent of what the plan really costs, which lands as several times the payroll deduction you were used to. You get 60 days to elect, counted from the later of coverage ending or the election notice arriving, and electing reaches the coverage back to the day the old plan stopped so no gap exists. How continuation coverage works walks the timing, and whether to take it rather than a marketplace plan is a separate decision.
Should I sign the severance agreement right away?
First pin down how much review time you actually have. If you're 40 or older, federal law gives you 21 days to consider an agreement that waives age claims, 45 in a group layoff, and a waiver signed under a shorter deadline can be invalid. If you're under 40, no federal window applies and the deadline in your packet may be real, so confirm it in writing and ask for more time if you need it. Use whatever window you have to read the release terms, especially non-disparagement and no-lawsuit clauses, and don't stall past a real deadline, because offers can be withdrawn.
Can I collect unemployment if I got severance from Insperity?
Usually yes, though some states delay benefits until severance pay periods end, and lump sums are treated differently than salary continuation. Check your state's rules on our state benefit pages, and file immediately either way so your claim date is locked in.
