Laid off from NFI Industries.
NFI runs warehouses and truck fleets for other companies, and at High Point in 2023 and Whitestown in 2026 the record traces a closing to a customer contract ending. Staffing firm Eclipse Advantage has also filed its own notices at NFI addresses, so those workers sit outside NFI's numbers.

What NFI Industries layoffs have meant for employees
If you work at an NFI building, the customer inside it may matter as much as NFI does. The Camden, New Jersey company is a third-party operator managing warehouses and dedicated truck fleets for other businesses, with an estimated 16,000 employees at more than 300 locations, per Corridor Business Journal. In that setup a site's jobs can ride on a contract with one customer, so a closing at one building doesn't have to say much about the next one over, though Lebanon, Indiana drew two closing notices less than six months apart. For Newville, Crown Point, Lebanon, Perryville and Cedar Rapids, the sources we read state no reason and name no customer, so a notice from those sites can't tell you whether an account left or NFI simply cut back.
That difference is worth chasing down if you can, because the two can lead in different directions. A cutback leaves fewer jobs to go around inside NFI. A lost account may leave the work moving under someone else. If you learn where a customer's freight is headed, that operator may be worth an application, and your experience with that account is the thing you'd be selling. None of these records shows a new operator taking on NFI staff, so that's a possibility to look into and no sort of pattern. The customer's own news can also be the earlier signal. High Point's contract decision sat beside HanesBrands' review of options for its Champion line, which could have included a sale, though WFDD drew no link between the two. If you know which account your building serves, that company's announcements may be worth following as closely as NFI's.
Lebanon's transfer language was limited. NFI's stated intention in the January 2026 letter was to try placing "some employees" elsewhere under "the same or more favorable working conditions," and anyone who didn't take a move faced a termination date inside the letter's windows. "Some" leaves a lot of room, and one letter for one building doesn't make a company rule. If NFI puts another building in front of you, that phrase is a yardstick you can use, measuring the new hours, wages and commute against the job you have now.
Your payroll can decide which notice is yours. Eclipse expected no such placement at Whitestown, using nearly the same sentence as NFI's letter and then adding in its Whitestown notice that it "does not anticipate that this will occur." Eclipse notices sit at the street numbers of NFI's closings in Torrance, Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario, California's WARN report shows, and the dates don't always line up. At Rancho Cucamonga, Eclipse's row says May 30 and NFI's says July 5. In Ontario, Eclipse's notice came first, dated Sept. 24 against NFI's Oct. 14. Only the Whitestown notice says in words that the job sat in an NFI-run building, so the California rows show shared addresses and no more than that. Either way, NFI's figures leave those workers out, and if your paycheck comes from a staffing firm, a notice under that firm's name is the likelier place to find your date.
A date on one of these notices may not be your date. Notices can set one day for a building to stop and other days for people's jobs, as Lebanon's letter did, and they can split employees into groups with their own dates. If you're covered by one of these notices, you can ask whoever issued it which date applies to your role and your payroll employer. If an unemployment claim is next, the state rules are at California unemployment benefits, and likewise for Indiana, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

August 2025 and January 2026, Lebanon, Indiana closings
An August 2025 closure of 79 jobs sits in our tracker under two NFI units' names. A January 2026 letter then said National Distribution Centers expected to cease operations at 510 S Enterprise Blvd on May 29, affecting 43 employees in April and 10 from May 29.
May 2025, Crown Point, Indiana notice
NFI Industries reported 78 workers affected at its Georgia Street site, with layoffs dated July 11 for 60 and July 25 for 18. Indiana's posted form called it a permanent closure notice, then answered no on whether the separation would result in a closure.
March 2025, Newville, Pennsylvania layoff
A National Distribution Centers warehouse on Ritner Highway listed 385 affected employees with a March 8 effective date, ABC27 reported. Pennsylvania's WARN list marks the entry a layoff, where others on it read closing.
October 2023, High Point, North Carolina contract ending
National Distribution Centers told officials it would permanently close its Eagle Hill Drive site at year's end, eliminating 217 jobs, WFDD reported. The site handled HanesBrands' Champion line under contract, and a spokesperson said that contract wouldn't be renewed.
June 2023, Bethel, Pennsylvania, and McDonough, Georgia closings
A closure of 124 at 9141 Old Route 22 in Bethel was listed in two steps, 50 effective June 30 and 74 on Aug. 11, per Pennsylvania's WARN list. The same NFI Interactive Logistics unit has a 172-job McDonough closure in our tracker, dated June 30.
January 2022, Meridian, Mississippi trucking closure
A National Freight closure of 91 jobs was noticed Jan. 14 with action on March 17, Mississippi's WARN report shows, "due to lack of services under its contact," which reads like a typo for contract.
What to do if you're laid off from NFI Industries
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. NFI Industries's biggest hubs: California, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what NFI Industries's hub states run: California, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
NFI Industries layoff and severance questions
What severance has NFI Industries given laid-off employees?
The one record we found on the subject is Indiana's Crown Point form, which answered yes when asked whether separation benefits and COBRA benefits would be provided in 2025. None of the notices and reports we read puts an amount or a formula on it. If you were at Crown Point and weren't offered anything, that form is a dated state record you can point to.
Is NFI Industries laying off in 2026?
Notices dated 2026 list 372 jobs in Arizona, California, Indiana, Iowa and Maryland, per our tracker. Those are jobs the notices covered, which can differ from people let go, because Lebanon's letter left room for transfers. Eclipse's separate Whitestown notice covered 21 Eclipse employees, and those contractor employees aren't included in NFI's 372-job tracker total.
Why is NFI Industries closing warehouses?
The reasons on record are about contracts, and they cover only some sites. WFDD reported High Point's HanesBrands contract wouldn't be renewed, Eclipse's notice cited the termination of NFI's customer contract at Whitestown, and Mississippi's report cited a lack of services at Meridian, apparently under a contract. That's three sites, so it can't explain every closing.
Will NFI transfer me to another warehouse if my site closes?
At Lebanon, Indiana, it said it would try. The January 2026 letter said National Distribution Centers "will attempt to provide employment" at other locations, with termination dates for people who didn't accept. That's one site's letter, and Eclipse's Whitestown notice said placement wasn't expected for its own staff.
Is National Distribution Centers the same company as NFI?
It's a name NFI operates under. ABC27 called it one of NFI's names, and Eclipse's notice writes it with "(NFI)" after the name. Notices have also come from NFI Interactive Logistics, NFI Interactive Technologies and National Freight, and California Cartage, which NFI bought in 2017 per Transport Topics, filed under its own names. United Natural Foods' 2026 Philadelphia notice carries an "(NFI)" tag too, but that's a different company.
