Laid off from Philips.
Philips tied its western Pennsylvania layoffs to the 2024 consent decree over its recalled sleep apnea machines, and began handing that work to a supplier. Some earlier cuts hit plants it bought, including an X-ray parts plant in Aurora, Illinois in 2017 and a Cleveland-area scanner plant in 2018.

What Philips layoffs have meant for employees
The western Pennsylvania layoffs reached three addresses the Pittsburgh Business Times listed, 174 Tech Center Drive in Mount Pleasant, 312 Alvin Drive in New Kensington and 1001 Murry Ridge Lane in Murrysville. If you worked at any of the three, the notice covers your site, and June 30, 2026 was the end of the window the company gave the state. Pennsylvania's list names the employer on that notice as Respironics, Inc., not Philips, which matters if you're matching it against your own paperwork. Western Pennsylvania had been on the receiving end before, since Philips planned to move 160 Kennesaw positions there when it consolidated that Georgia site, HME News reported. By 2024 Philips had decided to send the region's own manufacturing out.
Respironics is one of several companies inside Philips whose own names appear on layoff notices. Volcano Corporation filed two California notices for Rancho Cordova in 2014 and 2015, Spectranetics one for Fremont, California in 2021, Respironics California one in California in 2022 and CardioNet one for Conyers, Georgia in 2010. Philips' 20-F subsidiary filing at the end of 2025 still includes Respironics California, Spectranetics LLC, CardioNet, LLC and Philips Image Guided Therapy Corporation, the name Volcano later took. If your pay stub or offer letter carries one of those names, the notices for your site may be filed under it rather than under Philips.
The cuts haven't been confined to production lines. The Eugene WARN letter listed software development engineers, verification and validation engineers and a head of operations among its 60 positions, and the 2025 annual report describes streamlining within Philips' Functions that year, with shifts in services, product management and commercial teams. Separately, the report puts the year's most significant restructuring projects, in its Other and Connected Care segments, mainly in the US and the Netherlands. Its provision for personnel lay-off costs rose to €124 million in 2025 from €106 million in 2024, after it had finished the global reduction it announced in 2022 and 2023. If you worked in Philips' Emergency Care business, it left Philips on December 31, 2025, when the sale to Bridgefield Capital closed with a brand license and a transition service and manufacturing agreement, per the same report.
Bothell's record carries a regulatory thread that Philips says is separate from its cuts. The site is a hub for engineering and manufacturing ultrasound equipment and other healthcare devices, and Philips has around 1,500 employees in the Seattle area, by the LinkedIn count GeekWire cited, and the FDA's September 2025 warning letter named the Bothell facility along with a Pennsylvania location and one in the Netherlands, over how the site documented its response to reports of defective ultrasound devices. Philips said the December layoffs were completely unrelated to any regulatory action. Washington's notices spell the Bothell employer Phillips Ultrasound, Inc, with a double l, back to 2005, so a search for the site under the correct spelling can miss them.
Washington, Georgia and California are the three states holding the most Philips-matched notices in our tracker, in that order, and Pennsylvania received two of the three 2025 notices; those four state pages set out how a benefits claim works in each. The 2025 annual report also lists Reedsville, a Pennsylvania plant that makes AI-enabled ultrasound systems, in a $150 million plan Philips announced to expand US manufacturing and R&D. Where a notice reaches you, its dates are the ones Philips gave the state, and both the Eugene and Westmoreland County notices ran in phases over several months, so a last day earlier or later than a coworker's can sit inside the same notice.

June 2017, Dunlee plant in Aurora, Illinois to close
Philips said it would close the Aurora plant of Dunlee, the X-ray components maker it bought in 2001, by the end of 2017 and move tube and generator work to Hamburg, Germany, affecting about 200 employees, DOTmed reported.
What to do if you're laid off from Philips
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. Philips's biggest hubs: Washington, Georgia, California, Pennsylvania. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what Philips's hub states run: Washington, Georgia, California, Pennsylvania, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
Philips layoff and severance questions
What severance has Philips given laid-off employees?
Philips' January 2020 WARN letter to Oregon said Eugene employees would be offered severance under the Philips North America Severance Plan, and in 2017 Philips promised Aurora staff a comprehensive separation package, DOTmed reported. Its 2025 annual report lists a social plan or respective severance policy, outplacement and redeployment where possible, subject to local law. None of those records gives the plan's formula.
How many WARN notices has Philips filed?
Our WARN tracker matches 33 filings to Philips from 1999 to 2025, 3 filings covering 243 jobs since the start of 2025. Washington has the most, nine, seven of them under the misspelling Phillips Ultrasound, Inc. The count takes in filings by businesses Philips owns today, even ones made before it owned them, and several carry those companies' names, Respironics, Spectranetics and CardioNet among them, all on Philips' 2025 Form 20-F filing. Rows from the lighting, semiconductor and consumer electronics businesses Philips sold aren't counted.
Is Philips laying off employees in 2026?
The newest notices our tracker matches to Philips, in Westmoreland County and Bothell, carry December 31, 2025, and none carries a 2026 date. Philips Respironics' Westmoreland layoffs were set to finish by June 30, 2026, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times, which put the October 2025 notice at 196 employees across three sites.
Why did Philips move Respironics manufacturing out of Pennsylvania?
A spokesperson told MedTech Dive in June 2024 that the decision followed the clarity of the newly agreed Respironics consent decree and a smaller, more focused sleep and respiratory portfolio. That decree barred Philips from selling DreamStation CPAP machines and certain BiPAP devices and ventilators in the US until it showed years of compliance. In November 2025 a spokesperson said that 2024 announcement was made in light of evolving production volumes as remediation neared completion, the Pittsburgh Business Times reported.
