Laid off from Robinhood.

Robinhood's layoffs since 2022 have reached well past California, closing offices in Arizona and North Carolina and cutting jobs in Florida. In both 2022 rounds, the people let go could stay employed through a transition period, and their stock awards kept vesting while they did.

The most recent Robinhood layoff we've found

Robinhood finished its previously announced reduction in force in September 2026, its third-quarter 10-Q says, and warns that, as after earlier restructurings, it may see higher voluntary attrition and lower reported job satisfaction.

What Robinhood layoffs have meant for employees

Strong results didn't protect jobs at Robinhood in June 2026, and the company's own words show how its explanation moved. In August 2022, chief executive Vlad Tenev pinned the cuts on what he called additional deterioration of the macro environment and wrote "this is on me" about the staffing he'd approved, HRD America reported. He also said the cut announced earlier that year "did not go far enough," according to The Real Deal. By June 2026 the backdrop had changed, with the company describing a cut made from strength in its 8-K and Tenev calling the change proactive, aimed at a heavily layered organization, in a note quoted by InvestmentNews. If you've been watching Robinhood's quarterly numbers for a signal about your own job, the June 2026 filing cites record trading volumes in the same paragraph as the cut.

The filings sort these events too. Robinhood's past restructurings and significant workforce reductions were driven by a general downturn, its third-quarter 2026 10-Q says. The passage then turns to a separate idea, that the company continuously evaluates whether it's appropriately staffed in the normal course of business, and offers the 2026 reduction as its example. That quarter's staff reductions in 2023 sat under a similar heading, ongoing efficiency efforts, in the June 2023 10-Q. Taken together, Robinhood tells investors that some of its cuts are normal-course staffing decisions, so a slump hasn't been a precondition for one. If you're trying to judge your own exposure, the test the company describes is whether it's appropriately staffed to be cost efficient, and it says that evaluation is continuous.

The functions named in Robinhood's cuts tell you more than any one site's count. Operations, marketing and program management took the hardest hits in 2022, per the same HRD America report, and Banking Dive listed customer experience, platform shared services and trust and safety roles in 2023. If your job sits in one of those functions, Robinhood's past cuts have reached work like yours before. For 2026 the record is narrower, since a spokesperson answered a question about departments by pointing InvestmentNews to Tenev's note. State notices won't fill that in. In August 2022, the Arizona record and the North Carolina letter covered 275 jobs together, against 146 on California's notice in our WARN tracker, so one state's count can't tell you how far a Robinhood cut went.

The dates are where this record gets practical. If Robinhood gives you a transition period, you could set its end date beside your next vesting date, because in 2022 that stretch let a portion of awards vest that would otherwise have been forfeited, its 2022 restructuring note says. A notice's date can also sit well after the announcement, since California's 2022 notices carried effective dates of July 1 and Oct. 1 and its June 2026 notice carried Sept. 1. If you're offered a package, August 2022's reported terms give you something to compare it with, though they were one round's terms.

The 2026 cut also followed a stretch of growth. Robinhood's full-time count went from around 2,300 at the end of 2022, per the same Banking Dive report, to about 2,900 at the end of 2025, per InvestmentNews, a net gain of about 600. Those are year-end counts, which leave out who came and went between them. If you worked out of California or Florida, where the notices in our tracker were filed, California unemployment benefits and Florida's page lay out what each state asks of a claim.

A sourced history of Robinhood layoffs

  • June 2026, about 10% of full-time staff cut

Robinhood said it acted from a position of business strength in its June 16 8-K, and closed a small number of open roles. InvestmentNews reported about 290 jobs, and our WARN tracker dates a 63-job California notice that day.

  • June 2023, about 7% cut and a Lake Mary notice

About 150 full-time employees were laid off, Banking Dive said, citing a CFO memo seen by The Wall Street Journal. A June 29 notification to Florida listed 61 permanent cuts at Lake Mary and said the facility wouldn't close, WFTV reported.

  • August 2022, about 23% cut, Tempe and Charlotte closings

About 780 employees were cut in a move to a general manager structure, Robinhood's 2022 annual report says. Tempe and Charlotte were the offices closing, The Real Deal reported, with 193 jobs on Arizona's record and 82 in a letter WSOC reported.

What to do if you're laid off from Robinhood

Robinhood layoff and severance questions

What severance has Robinhood given laid-off employees?

For August 2022, HRD America reported that laid-off staff were offered cash severance, payment of COBRA premiums and job search help. Robinhood's filings put charges that were primarily wages, benefits and severance at $17 million and $34 million for 2022's rounds and nearly $10 million for the June 2023 quarter, and estimated $20 million for severance and benefits in 2026. None of those documents puts a formula or a personal amount on it.

What happens to my stock if I'm laid off from Robinhood?

In both 2022 rounds Robinhood let affected employees' awards keep vesting over a transitional period, its 2022 restructuring note says, so part of those awards vested instead of being forfeited. August's group could keep vesting through Oct. 1, HRD America reported. For 2026, the June 8-K estimated about $8 million in share-based compensation charges, and neither it, the third-quarter 10-Q nor InvestmentNews says how vesting was handled.

How many employees did Robinhood lay off in 2026?

About 290, InvestmentNews reported when the cut was announced in June, and Robinhood's 8-K gave a share of full-time staff instead of a count. The company said it finished the reduction in September, in its third-quarter 10-Q, without a final count. Our WARN tracker shows one California notice for 63 jobs, well short of the roughly 290 reported for the whole cut.

Why did Robinhood lay off employees in 2023?

CFO Jason Warnick's memo said the cuts were to adjust to volumes and better align team structures, Banking Dive reported from The Wall Street Journal, and a spokesperson said teams may change based on volume, workload and org design. Robinhood's June 2023 10-Q said it reduced staff in certain departments as it saw increased productivity and opportunities for greater efficiency.

Did Robinhood close its Tempe and Charlotte offices?

The Real Deal reported in August 2022 that Robinhood was closing both offices. WSOC reported the Charlotte office had opened the year before with a pledge of $11 million and hundreds of jobs, and the company said Charlotte employees who remained would work under its work from anywhere model. Robinhood's Note 6 for 2022 adds a decision that quarter to partly or fully close five more offices, four of them unoccupied.

How many WARN notices has Robinhood filed?

We count 8 Robinhood notices in our WARN tracker, dated April 2022 to June 2026, seven of them California's and one Florida's. Two August 2022 notices sit outside that count because our archive lacks those states for that year, one in Arizona's state record and the other in a letter to North Carolina that WSOC reported.
