Laid off from Sensata Technologies.

Sensata Technologies cut US jobs by moving production out of factories that arrived with its acquisitions to its own plants in China and Mexico, so the products outlived the jobs. Since 2020, company-wide restructuring plans have also eliminated jobs and closed sites.

The most recent Sensata Technologies layoff we've found

Sensata's most recent filing in our WARN tracker, from January 2025, told California it would shut its Carpinteria site for good and lay off all 57 employees there, Pacific Coast Business Times reported. The 2025 UK annual report adds a Transformation Plan of job cuts and site closures begun that year.

What Sensata Technologies layoffs have meant for employees

Sensata credits its cost position partly to "a continual process of migration and transformation to best-cost manufacturing locations," a line in both its 2025 UK annual report and the 2024 report, and it names Bulgaria, China, Malaysia, Mexico, the UK and the US as the main places it manufactures. The same paragraph says it uses automation to lower labor costs. When it announced the Springfield move, Sensata gave a similar reason, that consolidating production in a larger Sensata facility would bring economies of scale and efficiencies, and Modern Tire Dealer quoted its global communications director saying the move "was in no way a reflection of the quality of the Springfield workforce." If you're at a US plant that came to Sensata through a purchase, those lines are the company's own account of how it weighs where things get made.

Carpinteria shows how little a purchase-day intention settles. When Sensata agreed to buy GIGAVAC, which had over 270 employees, Charged EVs reported that it intended to maintain GIGAVAC's existing employee base and its Carpinteria headquarters. The 2025 notice, as Pacific Coast Business Times reported it, covered the whole Sensata facility at 6382 Rose Lane, the address Sensata's 2025 report gives for Gigavac LLC, and our WARN tracker also holds a 2021 Carpinteria closing notice. If Sensata buys the company you work for and says something similar, the way Carpinteria ended is a reason to take it as a statement of intent and nothing firmer.

Alongside the plant notices, Sensata has run company-wide plans since 2020, and the three its 2025 report describes, from 2023 on, name no site, country or job count. Sensata's workforce as a whole sits mostly outside the US, with about 7.6% of its roughly 16,700 employees there when 2025 ended. If you're at a US site and weighing whether to start a search now, the newest plan's own horizon is the middle of 2028, the point by which Sensata expects most of the Transformation Plan's actions to be done.

Union contracts reach very few Sensata employees. AFP called Freeport a non-unionized plant, the 2025 Carpinteria filing said no union represented its workers, and Sensata's 2025 report counts about 200 employees under collective bargaining agreements across the whole company. The Freeport account also shows pay to stay. Those who remained there got retention bonuses to keep the plant running through its final equipment shipments, while some coworkers found new jobs first. If Sensata offers you money to see a closing through, the bonus is worth setting against how soon you could start somewhere else.

The Labor Department's trade adjustment notices name the worker groups they certify, and they reach past Sensata's own payroll. Its August 2010 notice lists leased workers from Olsten Staffing Services with the Attleboro customer service organization, and its June 2016 notice names Staffmark alongside the Springfield group. The 2010 notice also says the date after a company's name is the impact date for all workers in that determination, and that certification needs a significant number or share of a group's workers to have been separated, fully or partly, or to face it. If you came to a Sensata site through a staffing agency and the work went abroad, the Attleboro listing shows leased workers have been part of a certified group before. For an unemployment claim, California's rules sit under California unemployment benefits, and Massachusetts' under Massachusetts unemployment benefits.

What to do if you're laid off from Sensata Technologies

Sensata Technologies layoff and severance questions

Is Sensata Technologies laying off workers in 2026?

No 2026 notice from Sensata appears in our WARN tracker, where its latest is California's from January 2025. The company-wide Transformation Plan in Sensata's 2025 UK annual report pairs involuntary layoffs with site closings, and the company expects most of its actions to be done on or before June 30, 2028.

What severance has Sensata Technologies given laid-off employees?

When it announced the Springfield, Tennessee, move in January 2016, Sensata said employees would be eligible for separation benefits and career transition assistance, Modern Tire Dealer reported. That report, AFP's 2012 Freeport story and the Pacific Coast Business Times piece on the 2025 Carpinteria notice give no amount or formula for any package. If you're offered a package, career transition help is the other item Sensata named at Springfield, beside the separation benefits.

How many people work at Sensata Technologies, and how many in the US?

About 16,700 employees worked for Sensata at December 31, 2025, about 7.6% of them in the US, plus about 2,300 contract workers worldwide, according to its 2025 UK annual report. Its 2022 UK annual report put the count at about 20,800 at the end of 2022, 8% of them in the US, so year-end headcount fell by about 4,100 in three years, a net change and not a tally of layoffs.
