Laid off from Siemens.

Siemens' American layoffs on record were handled site by site. Bartlesville, Oklahoma staff were invited to apply for jobs Siemens planned to move to Houston, and affected Healthineers employees in Flanders, New Jersey stayed eligible for severance and outplacement when their timeline was shortened.

The most recent Siemens layoff we've found

In April 2026 Siemens said its shareholders would vote at its next annual meeting, in February, on a plan to spin off Siemens Healthineers shares, MedTech Dive reported, transferring 30% of Healthineers to Siemens stockholders and giving up Siemens' controlling stake; final confirmation from regulators was still outstanding.

What Siemens layoffs have meant for employees

Both American relocations on record were planned to leave some work at the original site. Siemens' Bartlesville statement, which News On 6 published, expected a small number of positions to move to a satellite office there and invited employees to apply for the jobs expected to transfer to Houston or for openings in other Siemens businesses, so following the work there was a hiring decision rather than a reassignment. At Flanders, the company's statement to NJBIZ said the site would keep making instruments for laboratory diagnostic testing and keep its R&D after the planned end of the production bound for Ireland, and it moved that planned end forward from September 2024 to May 2024. If your role is tied to work that's leaving a site, it pays to keep a written record of each date you're given, since Flanders' end date moved after the first announcement.

Siemens' March 2025 release drew its firmest line in Germany, where the release ruled out operational layoffs and said headcount would tend to stay stable as other areas hired, while giving no figure for the United States. Siemens had flagged the automation cuts at its November 2024 annual press conference, and the release blamed muted demand in China and Germany since fiscal 2023 for lost orders and revenue. By our arithmetic, the automation cuts come to about 8% of Digital Industries' roughly 68,000 people, and about 3,000 of them and about 200 of the charging cuts fall outside Germany. The release also said job placement inside the company would play a key role, and it said Siemens had more than 7,000 openings, about 2,000 of them in Germany. If your role is on the list, the release's line on internal placement is worth testing early against those openings and your separation date.

Healthineers' Flanders notices, filed as Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc., carry the newest layoff dates of any Siemens filing in our WARN tracker, running to September 27, 2024. Siemens owned 67% of Healthineers when it announced in November 2025 that it would spin off part of that stake, MedTech Dive reported, so the company that made the New Jersey cuts is one Siemens has said it intends to stop controlling. If a Healthineers job in Flanders, Iselin or Princeton ended for you, New Jersey's unemployment benefits page sets out the state's claim process, and the COBRA subsidies Flanders staff stayed eligible for are easier to judge beside how COBRA works.

Siemens' completion release dates the close of its roughly $10 billion Altair purchase to March 26, 2025, and Altair's merger agreement with Siemens Industry Software set terms for the employees who stayed, for a 12-month period starting then or ending sooner for anyone who left. The same section says its provisions are solely for the agreement's parties and that nothing in it restricts Siemens' right to terminate, reassign or demote any Altair service provider after the closing. If you joined Siemens through Altair, the agreement's employee terms ran for that 12-month window from the closing, so a job that ended later sits outside them.

Georgia accounts for 14 of Siemens' filings in our tracker, more than any other state, and 11 of them date from 1995 to 2011 under the names Siemens Energy & Automation, Siemens Industry and Siemens, at Tucker, Gainesville, Canton and Duluth, while Illinois has six. If your Siemens job was in either state, the Georgia and Illinois unemployment pages set out who qualifies there and how to apply.

What to do if you're laid off from Siemens

Siemens layoff and severance questions

What severance has Siemens given laid-off employees?

Siemens' 2018 statement on the planned move of its Bartlesville, Oklahoma plant, carried by News On 6, promised severance and outplacement assistance to employees whose jobs were affected. In 2024, NJBIZ reported, Flanders employees stayed eligible for the original severance, COBRA subsidies and outplacement despite a shortened timeline. Neither account put an amount or formula on the severance.

Did Altair employees keep their severance terms after Siemens bought Altair?

If you worked for Altair in the US and kept your job when the purchase closed on March 26, 2025, per Siemens' completion release, the merger agreement required that for 12 months any severance payments and benefits applicable to you match or beat those in Section 7.04(a) of Altair's disclosure schedule, or a Siemens policy equal overall. The filed agreement doesn't reproduce that schedule or any formula, and it says those provisions benefit only the agreement's parties, with no employee a third-party beneficiary.

Is Siemens Energy part of Siemens?

Siemens Energy has been its own listed company since the spin-off took effect on September 25, 2020, when Siemens moved its worldwide Gas and Power operations and its roughly 67% stake in Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy into it, Siemens' investor relations page says. Under the bare name Siemens, our WARN tracker still counts ten older filings from Fort Madison, Iowa, Kansas and Mount Vernon, Ohio, places where Tri States Public Radio and WOSU reported cuts at wind and gas turbine plants.
