Laid off from Milestone Technologies.

In 2026, Milestone Technologies workers were providing IT and data center support at client sites, and the April layoff notices followed contracts there ending. At Prineville, Meta said it was ending Milestone's contract and expected most of the crew to be rehired through a different firm.

What Milestone Technologies layoffs have meant for employees

The people on Milestone's Prineville notice worked for Milestone but did their jobs at an address on Meta's campus, KTVZ reported, describing Milestone, a Fremont company, as a provider of staffing, IT services and support at Meta's data centers. Virginia Business called it a Silicon Valley IT services and data center support provider, founded in 1997, that has worked with major technology companies, Meta among them. Milestone's letter to Oregon put the layoffs down to one thing, Milestone's contract there coming to an end, and Meta told the station it was the one ending that contract. That makes Prineville a lost contract in the plainest sense, with the client ending the work Milestone did there. The letter calls the layoffs permanent, and that word is about employment with Milestone, since Meta's plan for the site was a new vendor. Milestone dated notices for three more data center sites the same day, New Albany and Eagle Mountain reported as Meta's and Henrico linked to Facebook through property records, and Prineville is the only site of the four where the client said what it planned next.

Meta's rehiring statement, made to the station in May, covered Prineville. For New Albany, Henrico and Eagle Mountain, the reports, a post from Columbus Business First, the Virginia Business story and The Salt Lake Tribune, tie New Albany and Eagle Mountain to Meta and Henrico to Facebook through county property records, but don't say who took over the work or whether anyone was rehired. Milestone's letter to Virginia and the Utah letter as the Tribune described it gave June 28 as the expected first separation, as Oregon's did. That date marks when layoffs were to begin at a site, and individual last days could fall later. Data center logistics associate, at levels L1 through L3, is the title most of the Oregon and Virginia jobs carried. If you worked at New Albany, Henrico or Eagle Mountain, an opening of that kind at your old campus would show which employer advertises that work there and on what terms; whether workers moved over with a contract is a separate question.

Iowa's WARN log gives the size and timing of Milestone's October notices but not their cause, since it has no field for a reason. So the explanation Milestone gave in April, a client contract ending, can't be carried over to the Iowa sites from the log alone, and neither can Meta's rehiring plan. If one of the Iowa notices covers your job, the weeks before its December 13 layoff date give you room to look at how Iowa unemployment benefits work before you need them, and to see whether another employer takes on the work at your site.

Two of Milestone's three California notices were for Chico. In 2014 The Orion, the student paper at Chico State, found Milestone's support operation there next to the Chico Municipal Airport, answering tech support, refund and ordering questions about the products of its clients, eBay, Google and Facebook. The paper tied a December 2013 round of layoffs to a lack of support calls. A supervisor told it that about 300 people still handled phone support and 15 chat, and that staff then volunteered time off so everyone got enough hours. That's how a smaller flow of client work landed on the people still there, and it's the same dependence the 2026 notices show, with a client's volume in place of a client's contract.

What to do if you're laid off from Milestone Technologies

Milestone Technologies layoff and severance questions

Why did Milestone Technologies lay off data center workers in April 2026?

Each of the four April notices traced to a contract ending at the client's site. Milestone's letter to Oregon and letter to Virginia gave that as the reason, The Salt Lake Tribune quoted the same line from the Utah letter, and Columbus Business First said the New Albany layoffs were planned as Milestone's contract at Meta's campus was ending. At Prineville, Meta told KTVZ it was the one ending the contract.

Who took over Milestone's work at Meta's Prineville data center?

DP World Tech US LLC was the new vendor Meta named for Prineville, and Meta told KTVZ in May 2026 that the firm was working to rehire as soon as possible. If you were on that crew and DP World Tech offers you a job, it comes from a different employer than Milestone, and you can compare its title, wage, hours and start date with your other options.

What severance has Milestone Technologies given laid-off employees?

Severance isn't mentioned in Milestone's April 2026 Oregon letter or Virginia letter, which give each site's count, job titles, union status and first separation date. Our severance negotiation page is written for anyone weighing a separation agreement, Milestone's included.

How many jobs did Milestone Technologies' 2026 layoff notices cover?

Six state notices Milestone dated in 2026 list 390 jobs across Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, Utah and Iowa, counted from our WARN tracker. That total counts Henrico at 50 jobs, where Milestone's Virginia letter said approximately 51.

What jobs were on Milestone Technologies' layoff notices?

Data center logistics associates, levels L1 to L3, filled 58 of about 66 jobs on Milestone's Prineville letter and 43 of about 51 on its Henrico letter, alongside service drivers, team leads and managers. The Salt Lake Tribune said the jobs on the Eagle Mountain letter included dozens of data center logistics associates, the logistics team's leader and manager, and a safety risk coordinator.
