Laid off from National Resilience.
National Resilience scaled up fast after its 2020 start, buying plants from other companies, and the layoff notices in our tracker have all come from those plants. In Florida the cuts ran into a bankruptcy, so people already laid off waited on a court process to settle their severance.
What we know about National Resilience severance and layoffs
- 4 tracker notices since 2023, at Allston, Durham and twice at Alachua
- 213 Allston jobs on a February 2023 notice, after a Sanofi contract ended
- 120 Durham jobs on a January 2025 notice that held about 54 until December
- About 125 Alachua layoffs in early 2025, then about 67 more by July 1
- 6 sites closed in 2025, including Marlborough and Bedford, which never became operational
- 12 weeks of base pay, the total maximum in Alachua's severance policy
- About $990,000 in estimated Alachua severance for non-insiders, subject to signed agreements
The most recent National Resilience layoff we've found
Resilience said in a September 2026 release that Made Scientific had acquired its East Norriton, Pennsylvania cell therapy plant, and it wished the team there "continued success with Made." The newest notice in our tracker is still a 76-job Alachua filing dated June 9, 2025.
What National Resilience layoffs have meant for employees
The reason you heard for a Resilience cut probably depended on your building. At Allston it was a finished Sanofi contract, BioProcess Insider reported. In Durham the company told Pharma Manufacturing it was gene therapy demand. In Alachua, the unit's 2026 liquidation plan points to canceled government contracts and affiliates that stopped funding it. The company-wide version is in the In re Bedmar opinion, where the finance chief testified that funding fell through because "we had too much operating cost and too much operating burn from our underutilized sites," and Resilience concluded the only way to keep operating was to wind those sites down. A local reason and a company-wide one can both be true.
The closing list sounds bigger in jobs than the record can show. Testimony in that opinion says Marlborough and Bedford never became operational, and that Allston had moved from manufacturing to minor process and analytical development work. No job count for those closings is on record. In our tracker the only 2025 notice from any of them is Alachua's. If you're sizing up what happened at your old site, a name on that list didn't always mean a full plant.
Statements about which sites would last have aged badly. Then-CEO Rahul Singhvi called Allston's slowdown temporary in 2023, and Allston was on the June 2025 list. That same month a spokesperson named Research Triangle Park among the sites continuing to operate, Pharma Manufacturing reported, and OXB had the North Carolina plant by that October. A sale is different from a closing, though. OXB said it intended to hire additional operational staff there, which is worth knowing if you left Durham before the deal.
Alachua shows how severance changes once an employer is in bankruptcy. The unit's July 2025 wages motion said notices went out June 9 and WARN wages had been paid, and it asked to keep honoring its severance policy. The August 15, 2025 final order allowed that for the 11 people still employed, if they stayed until October 15, the site sale or an earlier date the unit set, and signed a release. It continued the hearing for everyone already gone. Their claims landed in the liquidation plan, which took effect July 30, 2026, more than a year after the June cut. The plan capped allowed severance claims at $1,015,519.35 and called for priority amounts to be paid in full in cash. Amounts above the bankruptcy priority cap got a $194,839 reserve, open to holders who returned an opt-in election tied to a third-party release. If you worked in Alachua, it's worth checking which company name is on your pay records, because the plan covers Alachua Government Services' employees and the June 2025 state notice reads Resilience US.
Bedmar itself had no employees, so that fight was about landlords and not paychecks. It's still the plainest look at how the top of the company talked about those sites. CEO William Marth's email, quoted in the opinion, said "I used a legal tool to rid Resilience of the toxic sites." On the stand he said the divisive merger let him "preserve over 1500 jobs," after the company had weighed a Chapter 11 for the whole enterprise.
What remains is built around Ohio and Toronto, with headquarters moved from San Diego to Ohio, Pharma Manufacturing reported in July 2026. A company spokesperson summed up the closings as "We did some rightsizing." If you're weighing work at Blue Ash after a Resilience layoff, vice president Josh Matson described device assembly and packaging lines there and about 200 jobs over 18 to 24 months.
A sourced history of National Resilience layoffs
July 2025, Alachua unit files Chapter 11 after June cuts
A June 9 state notice listed 76 Alachua jobs. Alachua Government Services cut 65 people on June 20 and 2 more on July 1, its July 2025 wages motion says, then filed Chapter 11 on July 6 with about 13 salaried staff left.
June 2025, six sites wound down as lease affiliate files
A spokesperson told Pharma Manufacturing six sites were being wound down, and a customer letter tied that to a leaseholder affiliate's legal proceedings. That affiliate, Bedmar, had no employees, and a judge dismissed its case for lack of good faith, the In re Bedmar opinion shows.
January 2025, 120 cuts at the Durham gene therapy plant
Resilience told North Carolina it was permanently laying off 120 people, from March 7, with about 54 held until about December 15, Pharma Manufacturing reported. OXB bought the plant from a Resilience subsidiary in October 2025.
December 2024, 105 layoffs at the Alachua, Florida plant
Resilience announced 105 layoffs at the former Ology site, Pharma Manufacturing reported, the month William Marth became CEO.
February 2023, Allston cuts after Sanofi's Cerezyme contract ends
Resilience scaled back its Allston, Massachusetts plant after its Sanofi Cerezyme contract ended. Around 213 jobs would go, with severance packages and internal job sourcing for those affected, BioProcess Insider reported. Then-CEO Rahul Singhvi called it "a temporary situation."
What to do if you're laid off from National Resilience
- File for unemployment in the state where you worked. Benefits run from your filing date, and severance usually doesn't block you. National Resilience's biggest hubs: Massachusetts, Florida, North Carolina. Somewhere else? Every state is here.
- Apply for financial and hardship assistance. Unemployment supplements income, but food benefits, health coverage and utility help are often available as well. Here's some of what National Resilience's hub states run: Massachusetts, Florida, North Carolina, and every other state is here.
- Mind the health insurance window. Losing coverage opens a 60-day special enrollment period, and an ACA plan usually beats unsubsidized COBRA. Compare your options before the employer coverage lapses, and read how the COBRA clocks run if you are weighing it seriously.
- Get your real runway number. Severance plus savings divided by reality. The calculator takes five minutes.
- Know which clocks are already running. Severance review windows, COBRA election, visa grace periods, and 401(k) rollovers all run on federal deadlines that started at termination. All five deadlines are here.
National Resilience layoff and severance questions
What severance has National Resilience given laid-off employees?
The fullest terms on record come from its Alachua unit. A July 2025 wages motion described two, four or six weeks of base pay by job level, plus a week per completed year for anyone past a year of service, to a total maximum of 12 weeks, paid as a lump sum and typically in exchange for a release. BioProcess Insider reported severance packages at Allston in 2023, and no amounts are on record for Allston or Durham.
Did National Resilience file for bankruptcy?
The parent stayed out in 2025, but two affiliates filed. Bedmar, formed six days earlier to hold leases, filed June 9, 2025, and the In re Bedmar opinion records a judge dismissing it for lack of good faith. Alachua Government Services filed July 6, 2025, per the Alachua wages motion, and its liquidation plan took effect July 30, 2026.
How many people has National Resilience laid off?
No company-wide total is on record. The four notices in our tracker list 514 jobs from 2023 to 2025, 196 of them on the two 2025 notices. The Alachua unit's 2026 liquidation plan puts its early 2025 layoffs at about 125 and that June and July at about 67, against notices there listing 105 and 76.
Which National Resilience plants closed?
A spokesperson told Pharma Manufacturing in June 2025 that Alachua, Fremont, San Diego, Allston, Bedford and Marlborough were being wound down. The In re Bedmar opinion counts seven leased sites, with two in San Diego. OXB bought Durham, and Made Scientific acquired East Norriton, Resilience's September 2026 release said.
What happened to the Alachua plant?
Alachua Government Services decided to idle it after affiliates stopped funding the unit, its 2026 liquidation plan says. Strive Specialties won the site assets at auction with an $11.5 million bid, and that sale closed October 31, 2025.
