Laid off from Owens Corning.
Owens Corning bought Masonite in 2024 and has been closing plants that came with it to consolidate production. Its insulation business has cut too, furloughing most of a Utah plant's workforce in 2025 while telling the mayor it couldn't guarantee those jobs would return.

The most recent Owens Corning layoff we've found
The newest closing in our WARN tracker is in Kirkwood, New York, where Masonite's August 2026 notice under the Owens Corning Doors name set a November 23 shutdown. A company spokesperson told News 34 the decision was a response to market conditions and the company's focus on efficiency.
What Owens Corning layoffs have meant for employees
The Doors closings in Owens Corning's filings belong to a single program. Its second-quarter 10-Q says that after buying Masonite, the company set out to realize the synergies it expected by closing locations and consolidating production, and it attaches cost estimates to the closings, such as about $12 million in cash charges at Prineville and about $6 million at Walkerton. In that filing, the company said it was continuing to review those synergies and expected more costs from them through 2026. A spokesperson's statement to KLCC called the Prineville closing a strategic business decision. If you work at a former Masonite plant, that program is the company's own account of why these plants are closing, and its quarterly and annual filings are where it has tallied the closings so far.
The letters Owens Corning filed for Prineville and Walkerton handle the exit the same way. The Prineville notice and the Walkerton letter each call the closing permanent and note that no union is associated with the site. Each keeps some employees on after the first separations to wind the plant down, so a wind-down assignment can mean a later separation date, and each says its dates rest on the best information the company had at the time. If you get a written notice of your own date, it's worth saving it along with any update that follows.
Those dates can move. Owens Corning revised the Prineville notice three times, and Revision #3, which cited evolving business needs including wrapping up production, went to Prineville's mayor as well as Oregon's rapid response coordinator. The first notice had told the state it would hear about any change in plans or timing as soon as possible, and the later letters were how it heard. If you're timing a move or another job around a separation date, it's worth checking the state's WARN posting for a later revision before you commit.
Two plants outside the Doors business show the other shapes these cuts have taken. At the Nephi, Utah insulation plant, the 2025 cut came as a furlough, the Salt Lake Tribune reported, with the company keeping a group of employees for the plant's needs and expecting the curtailment to run through the end of that year. Its notice to the mayor aimed at a restart but said the company couldn't guarantee the furloughed workers' jobs would come back, so if you were furloughed there, weighing other work in the meantime is a reasonable call. The city was also working to bring in the Utah Department of Workforce Services' rapid response team, and the company was coordinating with factories elsewhere that might hire furloughed workers temporarily, the city's economic director said. Wabash ended differently in 2023, when Owens Corning decided to relocate that plant's mineral wool operations to Joplin, Missouri, as its 2025 10-K recounts. The work was headed to Joplin, and the plant's closing letter gave the people doing it no right to follow.
Notices for these plants have gone out under more than one company name. Kirkwood's plant came to Owens Corning with the 2024 Masonite purchase, News 34 noted, and its notice was filed by Masonite as Owens Corning Doors, so our WARN tracker is worth searching under Masonite, Endura Products and Premdor as well as Owens Corning, since older notices filed by businesses Owens Corning owns today carry those names. The recent notices went to four states, and Indiana unemployment benefits, Oregon unemployment benefits, New York unemployment benefits and Utah unemployment benefits cover each of them.
