Laid off from Edgewell Personal Care.
Edgewell's U.S. plant closings are scheduled in stages, so people at one plant can have last days many months apart. Its earlier consolidation in Mexico came with a choice, as workers were offered the chance to follow the work to a new plant, and many declined.

The most recent Edgewell Personal Care layoff we've found
In August 2026, Edgewell put the pre-tax charges it expects for fiscal 2026 at about $92 million, up from $90 million, for restructuring that includes further consolidating its wet shave operations, according to its third-quarter results, and its quarterly report expects that consolidation to be completed in the first half of fiscal 2028.
What Edgewell Personal Care layoffs have meant for employees
If you're at Edgewell's Milford or Knoxville plant, the closing date that matters is your own. The Milford notice said employees would get at least 60 days' notice, by Hartford Business's account, and the schedules themselves can move. Parts of Edgewell's plant consolidation have already run longer than planned. In May 2026, the company said it was running some duplicate sites longer than planned to protect service while it consolidated wet shave production, according to its second-quarter call. If you're in either plant, it's worth asking which round of layoffs your job falls in, and checking that date again as the work moves.
When the Milford closing was announced in November 2025, there was no word on whether its employees could transfer, WTNH reported, and Tennessee's November 2025 memo says the Knoxville workers weren't covered by a union contract and had no bumping rights. The two Edgewell factories nearest the Shelton headquarters were in Knoxville, itself set to close, and in Aguascalientes, Mexico, CT Insider noted. In Mexico, Edgewell did offer moves. It had said it intended to move at least half of its 1,300 Obregón employees to the new Aguascalientes plant, which CT Insider placed about six hours north of Mexico City, and a significant part of those offered the move chose not to go, for economic, personal or family reasons, according to El Imparcial, which reported they would be paid off as Mexican law sets out. If you're offered a move along with severance, it's worth getting in writing whether declining the move changes the severance, and whether any help with moving comes with it.
For office staff the record looks different. Both of Edgewell's filings in our WARN tracker, covering 425 jobs, are for plants, and a spokesperson said the headquarters would remain in Connecticut, as WTNH reported. Edgewell's other offices, in Chesterfield, Missouri and Coppell, Texas, support its operations, officials told CT Insider. Within the Milford closing itself, the notice covered administrative roles as well as manufacturing ones. Separately, Edgewell's quarterly report shows severance and related costs in the nine months to June of both 2025 and 2026 under what it calls its operating model redesign, which aims to simplify the organization's ways of working and improve manufacturing and supply chain efficiency, and the report books that program apart from its Mexico and wet shave plant programs. If a reorganization reaches your team, it's worth asking how roles were chosen and what the separation terms are before your last day.
In Milford, where Schick has been since the 1960s, the city's economic development director, Robert Townes, talked of a job fair, resume help and possibly working with Edgewell on tuition reimbursement, WTNH reported. In Knoxville, the state alerted a rapid response team employed by the East Tennessee Human Resources Agency to arrange services with Edgewell and its workers, according to Tennessee's memo, with the region's local workforce board overseeing the dislocated worker services that follow. If you're in Knoxville, it's worth finding out how to reach that team, since the state assigned it to this closing. If tuition reimbursement for upskilling, which Edgewell listed in its Knoxville statement to WVLT, is part of your package, it's worth checking whether a course that runs past your last day still counts. For the two states where Edgewell's filings went, the unemployment rules are at Connecticut unemployment benefits and Tennessee unemployment benefits.

Edgewell Personal Care layoff and severance questions
What severance has Edgewell Personal Care given laid-off employees?
Edgewell said it would offer Milford workers severance and outplacement assistance, according to Hartford Business, and for Knoxville it listed transition support in the form of counseling, resume help, interview preparation and tuition reimbursement, in a statement to WVLT. Its quarterly report puts the wet shave consolidation's severance and related benefit costs at $9.1 million for the nine months to June 2026, a program total. Where is Edgewell moving the work from its Milford and Knoxville plants?
When it announced the closings, Edgewell declined to say for either plant, citing competitive reasons to CT Insider and WVLT. Chief executive Rod Little said in November 2025 that four North American factory sites would be combined into one automated plant, and a spokesperson told Manufacturing Dive that Milford was one of them.
Did Edgewell sell its feminine care business?
Yes. Edgewell completed the $340 million sale of its North America feminine care business, whose brands include Playtex, Stayfree and o.b., to Essity in February 2026, with the Dover, Delaware production plant part of the deal, Manufacturing Dive reported. Edgewell said it expected to work closely with Essity on a smooth transition for employees, and chief executive Rod Little said those colleagues gain new opportunities as part of Essity, according to its February 2 release.
