Laid off from Fox Corporation.

Fox Corporation has cut jobs by reorganizing one business at a time, from its sports and news networks to its entertainment unit and FOX Deportes, apart from temporary layoffs at several units in the spring of 2020. Off-camera staff and freelancers have been among the people let go.

The most recent Fox Corporation layoff we've found

FOX Deportes' cuts took effect on September 1, 2026, the date in California's WARN report. That week, Los Angeles Times en Español reported, shows such as Punto Final and Total Sports 360 ended and six new studio programs began airing from Mexico City.

What Fox Corporation layoffs have meant for employees

California's own reports draw the sharpest line in Fox's record. Its 2019-20 WARN report lists the four notices Fox units filed in April 2020 as temporary layoffs, and its 2025-26 report lists the June 2026 Fox Sports En Espanol notice as permanent. The 2020 notices came in the same weeks Fox's top executives agreed to give up all of their base salaries from May through September as part of its response to COVID-19, an April 2020 filing shows, and that April Fox Sports asked on-air talent to take a 15% pay cut, TheWrap reported. If you were among the people on a 2020 notice, the state's label is the plainest public statement of what kind of layoff it was, though none of these records says when, or whether, those workers were called back.

The two other units behind those 2020 notices are less familiar names. Fox Alternative Entertainment makes unscripted shows such as The Masked Singer, mainly for the FOX Network, and the Fox Studio Lot, which Fox owns in Los Angeles, provides production services and office space, according to Fox's fiscal 2026 annual report. Each Fox notice went in under the filing unit's own name, from Fox Sports Productions to Fox Sports En Espanol, so those are the names that turn up in a search of our WARN tracker, and all five were filed in California.

Freelancers are part of this record. Fox's annual report counts freelance and temporary workers among the people it employs for production and broadcast support, and most of the people FOX Deportes cut in 2026 were freelancers, Los Angeles Times en Español reported. On-air voices left with the change too, among them narrator Adrián García Márquez, whose last day was August 31. That annual report also extends Fox's medical, dental and vision plan and its 401(k) to freelancers who work a minimum number of hours. If you freelanced for Fox and got those benefits, your own record of the hours you worked is worth keeping, since hours are what the annual report ties freelance eligibility to.

The reasons Fox's units gave for these cuts have centered on structure. Fox Sports' spokesperson spoke of streamlining to become a more efficient organization, Fox News Media told Mediaite it was realigning functions and restructuring divisions, and Fox News Digital, in a statement TheWrap's January 2021 report carried, said its business and reporting structure had been realigned as the 2020 election cycle ended. Of Fox News Media's 2020 cuts, only those in hair and makeup were described as a result of the pandemic. In 2024, Fox Entertainment chief executive Rob Wade wrote in a memo The Hollywood Reporter published that the decisions were in no way a reflection of anyone's performance or contributions. In the Los Angeles Times en Español account of FOX Deportes folding into FOX Latin America, the company called the integration key to the network's long-term success. If you're explaining a Fox layoff to a future employer, any public statement from your unit is something you can point to, and Wade's memo says it outright for Fox Entertainment's 2024 round.

Fox's fiscal year ends June 30, so its charges run half a year off the calendar. Fox Entertainment's July 2024 cuts fall in fiscal 2025, and Fox's fiscal 2026 10-K note ties most of that year's restructuring charges to discontinuing Venu Sports.

Fox's headquarters is in New York, which the annual report names with Los Angeles as the two worksites where its employee assistance program offers onsite counseling.

What to do if you're laid off from Fox Corporation

Fox Corporation layoff and severance questions

What severance has Fox Corporation given laid-off employees?

Reports on both Fox News rounds said the people leaving would get severance. A source told Mediaite in September 2020 that departing Fox News Media employees would receive packages, and a person familiar with the January 2021 layoffs told TheWrap that Fox News Digital's would be enhanced and come with benefits, though neither said how much the packages were worth. If Fox offers you a package, what it pays and whether any benefits come with it are the parts to weigh against what you'd need until the next job.

How many WARN notices has Fox Corporation filed?

Five Fox notices show up in our WARN tracker, all filed in California under each unit's own name. Units including Fox Sports Productions filed four of them in April 2020, which California's WARN report lists as temporary layoffs, and Fox Sports En Espanol filed the fifth in June 2026, the only one from 2025 or later.

Notices filed since then under Twentieth Century Fox Film's name, 13 California filings from 2019 and 2020, count toward Disney's layoff record in our WARN tracker.
