The most recent Pitney Bowes layoff we've found

Pitney Bowes gave Jacksonville and Florida officials notice on June 10, 2026 that it was closing its presort facility in the city, putting 68 people out of work, the Jax Daily Record reported. Its 2025 restructuring plan ended the same month, according to its second-quarter 10-Q.

What Pitney Bowes layoffs have meant for employees

If you work at Pitney Bowes and a new restructuring plan arrives with a range of positions to cut, the two ranges on record turned out to be early estimates, as the 2023 10-K, the 2025 10-K and the second-quarter 2026 10-Q show when their targets and final counts sit side by side. A range does tell you a plan is under way and how big the company expected it to be at the start. It can't tell you where the count stops or whether your team is in it, since the filings give one worldwide count per plan. Alongside the third plan, the company closed its Stamford, Connecticut corporate office at the end of 2025.

The ecommerce exit worked differently. Pitney Bowes sold control of most of its US ecommerce entities to Hilco on August 8, 2024, and two of those entities filed Chapter 11 cases that day so certain of them could be liquidated, its August 2024 release said. The former unit then wound down, setting more than 1,200 layoffs at its hubs that fall by Supply Chain Dive's count, and five of the year's Pitney Bowes filings in our WARN tracker line up by state, count and date with hubs on that list, from Monroe, New Jersey and Lockport, Illinois to Bloomington and Stockton, California. Anyone asked by a future employer why that job ended can point to interim CEO Lance Rosenzweig's words on the August 8 earnings call, as the outlet quoted them, that the shutdown was in no way reflective of the employees' performance.

If you're a regular full-time employee on the US payroll and your job ends in a shutdown, a sale or a reorganization, the plan that may apply is the Pitney Bowes Severance Pay Plan, restated in June 2024. It pays at least two weeks of pay, and anything more depends on signing the company's separation agreement with a release of claims. The plan counts pay at the base rate in effect on the last working day, leaving out overtime, shift differentials and incentive pay. Its Exhibit A lists the potential amounts the company may provide on that basis, 1.5 weeks of pay per year of service in bands A to C and two weeks of pay per year of service plus the applicable pro rata bonus in bands D to F, up to 26 weeks, along with three months of COBRA medical at the active-employee rate. Payments come in installments on regular paydays, and where a payment requires a release, the first installment follows the timely return of the signed release and the end of any revocation period. The board can amend Exhibit A, down to eliminating severance.

When Pitney Bowes said in 2023 that Greenwood's parcel work would shift to two other Midwest hubs, it said affected workers were welcome to apply for open positions at its other locations, Inside INdiana Business reported. If Pitney Bowes offers you a job at another site, the plan's comparable-job test decides what saying no costs. An offer made within 30 days before or after termination that pays at least 85% of base or hourly pay, at a site no more than 35 miles from the old one or with a shorter commute, ends eligibility for plan severance, as does taking any Pitney Bowes job in that window, and the plan's committee decides what counts as comparable. Measuring the drive and the pay against those two numbers gives a first sense of where an offer stands.

Pitney Bowes' 10-K for 2025 counts about 6,600 employees and says the company also relies on a contingent hourly workforce. If you're a temporary or contingent worker, or part-time at under 30 hours a week, the severance plan's definition of an employee leaves you out. Of the company's 25 tracker filings, 16 were made in four states, and for anyone whose job was in one of them, there's more on unemployment benefits in California, Indiana, Illinois and Florida.

Pitney Bowes layoff and severance questions

What severance has Pitney Bowes given laid-off employees?

When the Global Ecommerce unit shut down in 2024, Pitney Bowes' interim CEO said the company was providing severance payments and outplacement services to that unit's team, Supply Chain Dive reported. In 2023, Greenwood, Indiana workers facing layoffs from the end of the parcel delivery and returns operation there were offered retention and severance if they stayed until September, a company spokesperson told Inside INdiana Business.

Is Pitney Bowes laying off employees in 2026?

Yes. Pitney Bowes' June 2026 notice for its Jacksonville presort facility set layoffs for August and September, the Jax Daily Record reported, and the plan it formed in 2025 went from about 360 positions eliminated by the end of that year to about 550 when it ended in June, its 2025 10-K and second-quarter 10-Q show. That Jacksonville letter is the only Pitney Bowes filing for 2026 in our WARN tracker, and the only one dated after 2024.

How many WARN notices has Pitney Bowes filed?

Our WARN tracker counts 25 Pitney Bowes filings from 2003 to 2026, 13 of them from 2024, five of those matching ecommerce hubs on the wind-down list Supply Chain Dive published. Ohio's 2024 notice for the unit's Canal Winchester hub falls in years our Ohio archive doesn't cover, so it isn't counted.

Does a WARN notice reduce Pitney Bowes severance?

Yes, under the company's severance pay plan as restated in June 2024. Pay during a WARN notice period, pay in lieu of that notice and any severance a WARN law requires all come off plan severance, and the plan's own example turns 12 weeks into four after eight weeks of notice pay. Where notice pay is more than the plan would pay, it adds two weeks of severance for those who sign its separation agreement.
